Shree Secondary School, situated in Bharatpur-3, Ganeshman Charnath Municipality, Dhanusha District, Madhesh Province, Nepal, is a community-established public educational institution with a rich history of grassroots initiative.
The school's establishment was driven entirely by community self-reliance: local residents organized a meeting, identified approximately 1 bigha and 15 kattha of public land near the Birendra Bazaar–Mainathpur road (about 2.5 km south of Birendra Bazaar on the Mahendra Highway), constructed a temporary thatched (kacchi) building, and commenced operations independently before seeking formal approval.
The school's journey began when, on Baisakh 2, 2016 BS, community members held a meeting in Bharatpur village and immediately resolved to set up and run the school by building a makeshift structure on the chosen public land for better accessibility. To ensure long-term sustainability and formal recognition, they submitted an application to the District Education Committee in Dhanusha on Baisakh 6, 2016 BS, and received permission to operate along with an annual budget of NRs 960 on Ashar 27, 2016 BS. It initially functioned under the name Janata Upper Primary School, Bharatpur, before later being recognized as Rashtriya Prathamik Vidyalaya, Bharatpur. The institution continued to grow in alignment with Nepal’s national education system, receiving approval for lower secondary level (Nimna Madhyamik Vidyalaya) in 2061 BS and achieving higher secondary status (Madhyamik Vidyalaya) in 2071 BS.
Today, it provides continuous education from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 12, serving as a vital learning center for children from Bharatpur and surrounding communities in Ganeshman Charnath Municipality. This institution stands as a powerful example of how community vision and persistent effort can build enduring educational facilities in rural Nepal.
