Dibya Deep Secondary School

Dibya Deep Secondary School, located in Chhoser, Lomanthang Rural Municipality, stands as the only secondary-level educational institution in the remote region of Upper Mustang. With classes ranging from Early Childhood Development (ECD) up to Grade 10, the school plays a crucial role in providing quality education to children through experienced and dedicated teaching staff in one of Nepal's most geographically isolated areas.

The school serves as a residential hub for students from disadvantaged backgrounds across the country. Currently, 26 students from districts such as Jajarkot, Rukum West, Udayapur, Myagdi, Baglung, Dhanusha, and Rupandehi are enrolled in the school’s Himalayan Residential Scholarship Programme. This initiative supports orphans and economically marginalized children by covering basic needs such as uniforms, computers, and learning materials, along with an annual grant of Rs. 5,000 per student.

The school has embraced innovation through its mobile education system, operating for six months of the year in Bijaypur, Pokhara. This seasonal shift enables students to continue their studies during Mustang’s harsh winters and has significantly enhanced the school’s appeal beyond the local community.

Similarly, the school’s residential facilities and expanding reputation have led to a rise in enrolment from outside Mustang. This growth is the result of consistent efforts to improve infrastructure and promote the school nationally.

Community involvement has further strengthened the school's foundation, including the donation of two ropanis and three anas of land for an earthquake-resistant dormitory. The school’s strategic location near the road leading to the Korala border with China also makes it accessible to students from neighbouring rural municipalities.
