Birendra Vidya Mandir Secondary School

Birendra Vidya Mandir Secondary School is a public academic institution situated in Tikapur Municipality, Kailali district, within Sudurpashchim Province, Nepal. The school was established as the first academic institution in Tikapur to meet the growing educational needs of the newly developed town. It was founded by the then Tikapur Development Committee on 7th Falgun 2031 B.S. Initially named Tikapur Aawasiya Madhyamik Vidyalaya, the school gained its current identity after King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev inaugurated its building, leading to its widespread recognition as Birendra Vidya Mandir.

Over the years, the institution has undergone significant changes in its structure and governance. Following amendments to Nepal's education rules and policies in 2059 B.S., it was officially categorized as a Public Educational Trust. Today, it continues to operate as Birendra Vidya Mandir Public Educational Trust, delivering education from pre-primary level up to graduation. However, the graduation-level programs are now managed under a separate administrative system.

The academic programs up to Grade 12 are overseen by a management committee chaired by the District Education Officer of Kailali. The school holds the status of a Regional Model School for the Far-Western and Mid-Western Development Regions. It has been part of the Public-Private Partnership Programme launched by the Government of Nepal in 2066 B.S. 

The +2 (higher secondary) program has been running since 2049 B.S., offering streams in Science, Humanities, Education, Management, and Law. The programs are offered in a well-structured academic setting supported by qualified, supportive, and friendly teachers who emphasize both academic excellence and personal development. With an affordable fee structure and a commitment to inclusivity, Birendra Vidya Mandir Secondary School creates an encouraging environment where students can thrive. As of academic year 2081/82,  over 1,000 students are enrolled in classes up to the +2 level.
