The journey of Hult Prize at Kathmandu University 2025/26 was not only just an event. It was a chain of different events which aimed to serve the communities. Throughout this journey communities were served, participants were nurtured and skills were honed. While the initial goal was to search for the ideas that could bring us one step closer to solving a global problem, the journey of finding that idea created a platform for us, the organizers, to contribute meaningfully to the community as well.
This event would not have been possible without the help of our sponsors. We would like to thank our partners, Nepal Rising, Ather, Hilife, Siprabi Securities, Eco Concern, Franklin Education Consultancy, AIESEC, Annapurna Post, EducationPati, Desh Sanchar, ICT Side, Good Nepal, ICT Samachar, DRXEL, Ba ko Achar, I am the Gardener, Playbox Arena, Baker Mom, UFO the clothing store, Frenzie Fries, Danphe Denim, Rekriti, Ecosathi, Chocolate by PS, Nexlo, Wonderland Nepal, and Sichu Nepal. Each of them helped contribute to a richer and more collaborative event ecosystem.

Working deeper into the vision, different community events were designed to create a meaningful impact that extended outside the competition itself. The community events marked the first step, allowing us to step outside the campus and engage directly with communities. These initiatives were designed to create immediate social value while grounding participants in real-world challenges, reinforcing the essence of impact-driven innovation.
The events were distributed evenly along the journey of the competition. A menstrual health awareness session opened conversations around a topic often overlooked, fostering dignity and education. The initiative for the clothes donation encouraged collective responsibility and compassion, while volunteering at an animal shelter allowed our organizing committee to contribute through empathy. Finally, a financial literacy session for aama samuha helped with the distribution of essential knowledge to make informed financial decisions, reinforcing long-term empowerment over short-term aid.

Alongside community engagement, participant development remained at the heart of the journey. A structured series of workshops was conducted to strengthen business and leadership capacities. These sessions were led by accomplished mentors and professionals, including Bhavani Kalwani, Jayendra Rimal, Dev Raj Gautam, Pajuna KC, Neeraj Pradhan, Binita Karki, Krishna Khanal, and CA Priyanka Rauniyar. Covering areas such as pitching, validation, financial planning, and what after the competition, the workshops helped teams transform their concepts into impact-driven solutions.
Before advancing to the semi-finale, a mock presentation session for the participants which helped the teams to refine their pitches, receive constructive feedback, and build confidence ahead of the competitive rounds was organized. The journey was complemented by a talk show, a panel discussion themed “Campus to CEO,” featuring Bhawani Rana, Annchal Kunwar, and Prof. Sudan Jha. The discussion brought together perspectives from leadership, entrepreneurship, and academia, offering participants valuable insights into real-world challenges, decision-making, and the broader impact of social innovation.
Adding further inspiration to the journey, participants also had the opportunity to learn from Chong Ing Kai, the winner of the previous year’s Hult Prize International Round. His experience bridged the gap between ambition and global execution, encouraging teams to envision their ideas on an international scale. These collective experiences shaped a strong and competitive semi-finale, where teams demonstrated visible growth in clarity, confidence, and purpose. By the time the journey culminated in the finale, the Hult Prize at Kathmandu University had evolved into more than a competition, it became a platform for learning, service, and a shared commitment to creating meaningful and sustainable change.
The journey reached its end at the final round, where five exceptional teams came together, each patiently waiting for their moment under the spotlight to share bold ideas fueled by creativity, purpose, and a genuine desire to be changemakers.
Kicking things off, Team FinPal took the stage with a powerful pitch centered on financial education with purpose. Their venture aims to bridge the gap between financial knowledge and real-life decision-making. FinPal makes financial literacy accessible, practical, and engaging by combining pedagogy, technology, and community-based learning. Led by a multidisciplinary founding team with expertise in vision and fundraising, community operations, pedagogical design, and B2B scalability, the venture positions itself as a collaborative ecosystem partner for institutions and organizations. With an emphasis on long-term behavioral change, FinPal aims to empower users to build healthy financial habits, understand money management, and make informed financial choices, contributing to sustainable financial well-being at both individual and community levels.
Next up was Team Lok Katha, whose idea was deeply rooted in history, culture, and tradition. They presented a heartwarming concept of creating child-friendly picture books based on extensive local research, transforming oral traditions into visual stories. They aim to create a business that doesn't just sell books but also stories to ensure that the next generation know the worth of their celebrations. Their mission is clear: to keep Nepal’s cultural essence alive while building a sustainable and meaningful cultural enterprise.
Then came Team Banashree, presenting their product Vanaश्री: Nature’s Shield against Mosquitoes. Addressing a growing problem intensified by global warming, the team highlighted Nepal’s dependence on imported chemical repellents that are harmful to both health and the environment. Vanaश्री offers a refreshing alternative of a natural, chemical-free mosquito repellent inspired by Nepali tradition. Their solution not only promotes healthier living but also preserves cultural knowledge while driving sustainable innovation for the future.
Taking the stage after them, Team Milapp introduced an innovative solution tailored for today’s fast-paced digital world. Milapp is a one-on-one online expert consultation platform connecting users with verified professionals in Software & Technology and Fitness & Wellbeing. Their business model aims to bridge the gap between those who need help and those who can help. Users receive personalized guidance, mentorship, and solutions in minutes, removing the uncertainty of generic online advice. Milapp empowers individuals and businesses to access trusted expertise anytime, anywhere, making learning, problem-solving, and professional growth fast, reliable, and convenient.
Closing the pitches was Team Synaptic, who introduced an inspiring assistive learning model designed for children with autism, particularly those who are non-verbal. By combining augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI), Synaptic transforms simple learning cards into immersive, multisensory 3D experiences. The platform also includes AI-powered progress tracking to support parents, educators, and therapists in customizing interventions. With multilingual and culturally relevant content, Synaptic aims to make early autism intervention more accessible, inclusive, and scalable across Nepal and the wider South Asian region.
Each team addressed a unique challenge ranging from public health, cultural preservation to digital access, inclusive education, and financial equity. From Banashree’s domestic solution to a pressing environmental issue, to Milapp’s response to the needs of the digital age, Synaptic’s tech-driven inclusivity, Lok Katha’s cultural storytelling, and FinPal’s mission for financial equality—every idea reflected passion, innovation, and purpose.
Every team truly owned the stage, presenting with confidence, sincerity, and a shared commitment to creating meaningful impact. And then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. As the emcees announced the results, the room buzzed with anticipation and excitement. Team Lok Katha emerged as the Second Runner-Up, Team Banashree secured the First Runner-Up position, and Team Synaptic was crowned the Winner of Hult Prize at Kathmandu University 2025/26.
