Gateway International Academy Wins Cambridge Futsal Tournament

Gateway International Academy has won the first Cambridge Cup Futsal competition for boys. The final match was held at Cambridge Public High School in Old Baneshwor. Gateway beat Nexus International Academy 4-3 in a penalty shootout. The game was tied 2-2 after regular time.

Gateway won 30,000 rupees for first place, and Nexus won 20,000 rupees for second place.

Peace Point came in third by beating Awareness International Academy (AIA) 5-1. Peace Point received 10,000 rupees.

Anup Tamang from Gateway was named the best player. Saugaat Karki, also from Gateway, was named the best goalkeeper. Suraj Regmi from Peace Point scored the most goals.

The prizes were given out by special guests. These included Dhiraj Pratap Singh, former head of the Nepal Police; Rajkumar Karki, who works in school sports in Nepal and internationally; Anjana Rana Magar, a goalkeeper for the national women's football team; and Rita Rai Dahal, the principal of Cambridge School. Twenty-one teams played in the tournament over two days.

The first Cambridge Cup Boys' Futsal Tournament, organized by Cambridge Public High School, commenced on Thursday.

According to Rita Rai Dahal, the founding principal of Cambridge, all 20 league-stage matches were completed on the first day, determining which teams have advanced to the pre-quarterfinals.

Nexus International School, Prasphutan International Academy, Noble Academy, AIA, Goldenpeak, Galaxy Public School, Jagat Mandir, Babylon, host Cambridge, Rivera International Academy, EPS School, New Arunodaya, Elixir Academy, Peace Point, Gateway Academy, and Gyanmala have secured their spots in the pre-quarterfinals.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by Pankaj Bikram Nembang, the President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), during a ceremony. A total of 21 teams are participating in the competition, which is being held at the Cambridge Public High School, located on Rohini Marg in Old Baneshwor.

The teams securing the top three positions will be awarded cash prizes of NPR 30,000, NPR 20,000, and NPR 10,000, respectively. Additionally, prizes will be presented to the best player, best goalkeeper, and the highest scorer. The tournament is slated to conclude on Friday.
