Bagmati Boarding School Hosts 10th Science & Technology Fair

The tenth Science and Technology Fair and Fun Carnival was held successfully at Bagmati Boarding Secondary School in Kathmandu.

The event was opened by Dr. Om Murti Anil, President of the National Cardiac Centre and a senior heart disease specialist. The founder chairman of Bagmati Boarding School, Dr. Surendra Kumar Sitoula, was also present.

The fair showcased more than fifty different projects prepared by the school's students. These projects covered topics in robotics, science and technology, mathematics, and social studies. Students from classes 2 to 12 participated, presenting their creative and innovative work.

A key highlight of the opening ceremony was a symbolic start, in which Dr. Anil lit a lamp on a water-filled tray. Students also launched a drone they had built themselves.

The exhibition featured a wide range of projects, including:

  • Robo Race, Robo Soccer, and various sensor-based robots
  • A biometric smart door and a metal detector
  • A humanoid service and medical robot, and a firefighting robot
  • A water level indicator, a smart dustbin, andan  automatic irrigation system
  • A rain detection system, an agricultural bot, and a 3D printer
  • Projects based on motion sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT)

A special cultural project on Mithila art, created by the students, was also displayed

During the program, Dr. Om Murti Anil shared an important message for parents. He explained that a child can only be creative and productive if they are physically healthy. He urged all parents to pay special attention to their children's diet and nutrition.

The school's founder, Dr. Suresh Sitoula, stated that, in line with today’s science, technology, and artificial intelligence, the school offers classes in coding and robotics. He stated that although science can imagine inventions, those inventions should be used only for the welfare of humanity, and a powerful nation should remain aware of this. He emphasized that inventions that harm the Earth, that is, nature, ultimately cannot be justified by human values, and therefore we must remain conscious of this.

He further explained that, with the establishment of a STEM lab at the school and in collaboration with Digi School, the British NCC curriculum has been implemented, and learning activities have shifted toward experiential and practical knowledge rather than traditional theoretical instruction. The school’s principal, Shyam Dutt Adhikari, shared this information.

The exhibition attracted nearly five thousand visitors.
