The University Grants Commission (UGC) Nepal has granted Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) certification to three higher education institutions today, recognizing their commitment to maintaining high academic and institutional standards.
The newly accredited institutions include the Kantipur City College in Kathmandu, Lamjung Campus in Lamjung, and Boston International College in Chitwan. The accreditation was granted after the colleges successfully met all 120 evaluation indicators set by the University Grants Commission Nepal.
According to officials, the QAA certification reflects a comprehensive assessment of academic quality, institutional governance, infrastructure, research activities, and student support services. The process involves rigorous self-study reports, peer reviews, and on-site evaluations to ensure institutions meet national and international standards.
The accreditation awarded to these colleges will remain valid for a period of five years. During this time, the institutions are expected to maintain and further improve their academic and administrative practices in line with QAA guidelines.
With the addition of these three colleges, the total number of QAA-accredited institutions in Nepal has now reached 114. Before this, Uniglobe College, Nesfiled International College, and King's College received the certification in December, 2025.
The QAA process, introduced by UGC Nepal in 2007, is a comprehensive voluntary evaluation system that assesses institutions across multiple dimensions, including governance and leadership, infrastructure and physical facilities, teaching-learning and student support, research and innovation, community engagement, and continuous quality improvement mechanisms. Institutions must prepare a detailed Self-Study Report (SSR), undergo peer review by experts, and demonstrate compliance with national and international benchmarks in higher education
