Tribhuvan University (TU) has raised serious concerns about colleges offering academic programs in affiliation with foreign universities without securing curriculum approval from its Curriculum Development Centre.
The university noted that several institutions, despite having approval from the Government of Nepal, have been conducting classes without fulfilling this mandatory requirement. TU clarified that approval from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology alone is not sufficient for academic recognition. According to the notice, degrees awarded from programs that have not received curriculum approval from TU will not be granted equivalence (recognition), even if the institutions are otherwise authorized to operate.
TU has therefore instructed all concerned colleges to ensure the timely renewal of their ongoing programs and to obtain curriculum approval for any new programs before commencing classes. The university has urged strict compliance to prevent future issues related to degree recognition.
