For the first time, Butwal is introducing academic courses in Fine Arts education. Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School, located in Kalikanagar, Butwal, will offer Fine Arts studies in Grades 11 and 12 starting this academic session, following in the footsteps of Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School features the highest number of students among the community schools in Nepal.

Mr. Dinesh Thapa, Principal of Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School, announced that enrollment for Grade 11 in the Fine Arts stream is now open, marking a milestone for the city.

The launch of the program has been made possible through the efforts of Mr. Dal Bahadur Gurung, educational advisor to Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya.

Ben Prasad Thapa from Nepal Art Milan Chok expressed that students will no longer need to relocate to Kathmandu to pursue Fine Arts, as opportunities are now available locally. He mentioned that around 20 professional artists from the area, including himself, already active professionals in the field, have expressed interest in pursuing formal studies in Fine Arts.

The Fine Arts curriculum will feature subjects such as Applied Arts, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Fashion Design. According to Kalika Manavgyan Secondary School, admissions are currently open, and classes are scheduled to begin on July 17.
