ABOUT
Chitwan Engineering Campus (CEC) is the fifth engineering constituent campus under Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Engineering (IOE) located outside the Kathmandu Valley. It marks a significant milestone in expanding quality engineering education across Nepal.
The idea of establishing this campus was officially recommended in the High-Level Commission Report of 2073. This recommendation was approved by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on April 20, 2017 (2074.01.07 BS). Following this, Tribhuvan University’s Executive Council endorsed the decision on August 11, 2017 (2074.04.27 BS), and again confirmed it during the TU Senate meeting held on August 13, 2017 (2074.04.29 BS). The formal establishment of the campus was finalized through Executive Council Decision No. 2335 on March 10, 2019 (2075.11.26 BS), which is now recognized as the official founding date of Chitwan Engineering Campus.
Situated in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Ward No. 15, Rampur, the campus currently runs its academic activities under the Institute of Engineering. It launched its first program, Bachelor in Architecture, on August 18, 2019, with an initial intake of 24 students. This makes it the first IOE campus outside the valley to offer an architecture program.
CEC is recognized as the sixty-third constituent campus under Tribhuvan University. The campus sits on a vast piece of land measuring over forty bighas and nineteen khatta, making it the largest in terms of land area among the five IOE campuses. Based on a detailed feasibility study by the Dean’s Office, the campus is planned to expand its academic offerings to six different bachelor-level programs. The projected investment for infrastructure development is estimated to be around twenty billion Nepalese rupees.
