Kathmandu University Announces Admission of Two-Year Master’s Degree Programs 2026 Intake

Kathmandu University, School of Law (KUSoL) at Dhulikhel is pleased to announce the opening of admissions to the following 2-year postgraduate law programs:

Program-1: LL.M./MEIL Program

  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Energy and Infrastructure Law (for law graduates)
  • Master in Energy and Infrastructure Law (MEIL) (for non-law graduates)

These programs aim to produce specialists in energy and infrastructure law with advanced academic and professional knowledge and research skills through a flexible yet rigorous full-time study program. The programs, the first of their kind in Nepal, are designed for experienced graduates seeking advanced study and research opportunities in legal and regulatory issues related to energy and infrastructure projects (such as hydro-power, highways, railways, tunnels, airports, and industrial estates), foreign direct investments, infrastructure and construction contracts, and project finance.

Program-2: LL.M./MCCL Program

  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate and Commercial Law (for law graduates)
  • Master in Corporate and Commercial Law (for non-law graduates)

These programs aim at producing specialists in Corporate and Commercial law with advanced academic and professional knowledge and research skills through a flexible yet rigorous full-time study. The programs are designed for experienced graduates seeking advanced study and research opportunities in corporate and commercial issues related to national and international, as well as public and private sector investments.

Main Objectives of the Master’s Degrees

Both programs, LL.M./MEIL and LL.M./MCCL, have two main objectives. First, it aims to train students with advanced legal skills and knowledge that enhance their ability to serve clients or organizations effectively, helping them gain recognition as experts in their field. Second, it seeks to equip students with the ability to conduct high-quality academic legal research in energy and infrastructure law, and corporate and commercial law areas enabling them to produce original research in the form of a dissertation suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed law journal. To achieve these twin objectives, the program places equal emphasis on both coursework and dissertation.

Eligibility for Admission:

Nepali and non-Nepali nationals who have a Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, Business Management/Administration, and Economics with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate or CGPA 2.0 out of 4.0 from universities/boards recognized by Kathmandu University may apply. Law graduates will qualify for the LL.M. degree and non-law graduates will qualify for the MEIL/MCCL degree. The MEIL/MCCL degree is a Master's degree in social sciences and will not in itself qualify the graduates for Bar examinations or for legal practice.

Aspiring candidates must complete the online application form available on the KUSoL website (https://bit.ly/llm-26).

Applicants must submit a deposit receipt for the application fee of NRs. 2500/- (non-refundable and non-transferable) to Nabil Bank Limited A/C no.: 04201017500994.

Submit copies of academic certificates/transcripts of bachelor's degree, a list of publications (if any), and citizenship/passport as mentioned in the application form within the deadline.

Deadline for submission of application form: 10 April 2026 (Friday).

KUSoL admits only 24 students in each program. The selection will be based on a written test and a personal interview. The classes shall take place at KUSoL in Dhulikhel and Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSoM) in Lalitpur.
